Zusammenfassung
This qualitative phenomenological study aimed to elucidate the lived experiences of five teenage father students. The research was informed by two theoretical frameworks: Social Cognitive Theory by Albert Bandura and Social Stigma Theory by Erving Goffman. Aligning with its qualitative nature, the study employed a descriptive phenomenological approach. Employing purposive sampling, the study recruited key participants and utilized semi-structured interviews, a validated data collection method. The data analysis followed Collaizzi's seven-step approach, revealing four central themes related to the lived experiences of teenage father students: (1) Ang mga Pagpanghakroy sang mga Lamharon nga Amay: Facing the ordeal of living with double standards" (2) Ang Madinuagon mga Madinuagon nga Amay sa tunga sa Pagpangkangkat: Embracing Fatherhood (3) Ang Matin-aw nga Kadalag-an sang mga Lamharon nga Amay: Discovering new essence of existence (4) Ang Pagpamalandong sang mga Lamharon nga Amay: The Timeless Realizations. Teen fathers experienced significant societal blame and judgment solely due to their age and gender. Prevailing societal expectations surrounding masculinity and provider roles proved difficult to fulfill, creating additional pressure. Teen fathers cohabited with their partner's family to demonstrate commitment and seek sunnort while also maximizing childcare assistance. This arrangement likely reflects the financial and developmental challenges they face. Teen fathers identified a need for educational and financial support to navigate the demands of fatherhood effectively. While the study highlights the negative impacts of teen fatherhood, it also acknowledges the potential for intervention. The suggestion of implementing school-based programs tailored for young men, focused on responsible relationships and fatherhood, offers a possible avenue to mitigate these challenges.
