Awareness and observance of reduce, reuse and recycle of the 1st year college students in North Luzon Philippines State College, Ilocos Sur.

Abstract

This study presents the level of awareness and extent of observance of the 1 year students of the College of Arts and Sciences of North Luzon Philippines State College of the 3Rs using the Descriptive-survey method with a questionnaire as an instrument in gathering data. Majority of the respondents are females, residents outside Candon City who have an average monthly allowance of 2,000.00-2.999.99, Catholics and without scholarship privilege. They are highly aware of the need to reduce energy to preserve the natural environment and they often observe practices in reducing energy. Highly aware of the need to practice reuse to help preserve the natural environment, they are highly aware of the need to practice reuse and recycle and often observe them. Aside from continuing the practice of 3Rs, they must also observe various approaches to reuse in order to decrease the amount of disposed waste, Academic symposia and fora on the 3RS may facilitate better understanding of the significance of reducing waste, reusing and recycling of materials.
