Abstract
This case study analyzes of Alan Cabalfin’s paintings from a mathematical point of view. Specifically, the subjects of the paintings are the women of Panay Bukidnon, an indigenous group living in the island of Panay in central Philippines. Purposive sampling, mathematical investigation, and interview complemented the use of mathematical software in the analysis. Mathematical concepts such as square, perspectivity, golden rectangle, and ratio served as the mathematical lens through which the paintings were interpreted. Recommendations on the use of paintings for arts integration in mathematics instruction are discussed.
