Abstract
This descriptive-correlational study aimed at finding out the teachers' level of efficacy and the academic achievement of Senior High School students in the Fifth District of Iloilo. The participants in this study were the 22 purposively selected Senior High School teachers and 300 randomly selected students in the 11 secondary schools in the Fifth District of Iloilo enrolled in school year 2017-2018. The data-gathering instruments utilized were the adapted Teachers' Efficacy Scale by Tschannen-Moran & Hoy, (2001) to determine the efficacy of the teacher-respondents and an Achievement Test in Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person based on the Learning Competencies of the Department of Education (DepEd). Appropriate statistical tools were employed to analyze data. Significance level for all inferential tests was set at .05 alpha. To process all numerical data, the researcher utilized the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Finding showed that Senior High School teachers were "highly efficacious". The students had an "average" level of achievement in Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person. There was significant difference in the efficacy of the teacher-respondents when grouped according to age and number of years in service. There was no significant relationship in the level of teacher's efficacy and students' academic achievement.
