dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to look into the byways of Ilonggo Physical Education teachers' myriad roles. Six teacher-coaches were the participants of this study. They were purposively selected based on the degree they graduated and their active involvement in P.E teaching and sports coaching for two or more years. To acquire correct and reliable facts that would support the study, phenomenological approach was utilized. The results of the study were based on the stories of the participants that were gathered through a one-on-one interview. Artifacts like pictures of classroom teaching and sports training were also used to augment the gathered data. These sources were used to triangulate the results which were transcribed, analyzed and reassessed. The ideas of constructionism and phenomenology backed-up the thematic analysis of the data. Findings revealed that the participants viewed P.E as a subject that develops the totality of the child through physical activities and as well as the attitude to become a disciplined person which can lead to a happier life. They stressed that becoming a P.E teacher let them impart life lessons that students will never forget and their value in their students' life cannot be over stated. Moreover, they acknowledged that they are doing two full-time responsibilities but they are happy whenever they can help and bring out the best in their students and athletes. Furthermore, being flexible, versatile, firm in command, great organizers and passionate are some of the characteristics that they have that made them different among other teachers. Ultimately, incredible drive is the driving force behind their success in molding and honing students and athletes and in | en |
