Personality traits of 21st century dance teachers: Basis for an enhancement program

Abstract
The present descriptive research aimed at determining the personality traits of Special Program for the Arts dance teachers in the Province of Iloilo who were taken as an entire group and classified according to sex, age, educational attainment, and length of teaching experience. The respondents of the study were the 42 SPA dance teachers of the Province of Iloilo, chosen purposive sampling procedure applying the total enumeration method or all the members of the population as respondents of this research. Data were gathered with the aid of standardized survey questionnaire taken from personality-testing.info courtesy ipip.ori.org. After the validation and approval of the Instrument by the panel of experts, the researcher personally administered the reliability test and the pilot testing of the instrument to the respondents. This descriptive statistics employed were the mean, rank, frequency count and standard deviation to determine the initial characteristics of the subjects at hand and the inferential statistics used were Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test to determine any significant difference in the personality traits of the Special Program for the Arts dance teachers. Results revealed that the most dominant personality trait of Special Program for the Arts dance teachers was Condentiousness. However, some dance teachers attested that they showcase Openness and Agreeableness as their personality traits. No significant difference was noted in the personality traits of the Special Program for the Arts dance teachers across variables. Moreover, a Program Design for Enhancement of Personality Traits of Dance Teachers was drafted on the basis of the results of the study.
