| dc.description.abstract | This descriptive study aimed to determined the assessment of Guimaras Sports Programs perceived by coaches, athletes, and municipal local government units when categorized as to the goals and objectives, administration, facilities, equipment, and budget. This study was conducted in the Province of Guimaras, specifically, among five municipalities, namely: Jordan, Buenavista, Sibunag, San Lorenzo, and Nueva Valencia on the 3rd week of October, during Academic Year 2016-2017. The respondents of the study were the 290 randomly selected coaches, athletes, and local government units officials in the province of Guimaras. The instrument used in the study was adopted from Dr. Noel Insular, (2003) of West Visayas State University Assessment of the Sports Program. The statistical tools used in the study were Mean, Standard Deviation, and t-test for independent. Significance was set at 0.05 alpha level. The results of the study revealed the following: the Sports Development Program of Guimaras was "effective" in terms of the implementation of its goals, objectives, and administration; the Sports Development Program of Guimaras was "moderately adequate" with respect to its facilities, equipment budgets as perceived by every category; the coaches perceived the Sports Development Program of Guimaras as "effective" in terms of the entire implementation as to its goals and objectives, as well as to its administration. The entire program was "Moderately Adequate" in terms of its facilities, equipment, and supplies, and budget allocation; the athlete perceived the Sports Development of Guimaras as "effective" in terms of the entire implementation of the program in terms of its goals and objectives, as well as its administration. The entire program was "Moderately Adequate" in terms of facilities, equipment, and supplies, and "Adequate" in terms of budget allocation; the Local Government Unit perceived the Sports Development of Guimaras as "effective" in terms of the entire implementation of the program in terms of its goals and objectives, as well to its administration. The entire program was "Slightly Adequate" in terms of facilities, "Moderately Adequate" in terms of its equipment and supplies, and "Adequate" in terms of budget allocation; as an entire group, the respondent perceived to the Sports Program Development of Guimaras as "effective" in terms of the entire implementation of the program in terms of its goals and objectives, as well to its administration. The entire program was "Moderately Adequate" in terms of facilities, equipment and supplies, and "Adequate" in terms of budget allocation; and there was significant difference in the in the assessment of Guimaras Sports Program as perceived by the coaches, athletes, and local government officials in terms of goals and objectives, and administration. Moreover, the provincial government should be responsive to the request for the additional facilities, supplies, and equipment, corresponding monitoring of repairs/ reconditioning of such, and establishing adequate locker storage for equipment and supplies and athletes' sports belonging. Based on the result of the study a proposed program enhancement was developed. | en |
