Zusammenfassung
Entrepreneurship increases the capital-output and income of the nation, and it is a tool necessary in the creation of more jobs and poverty reduction. This study determined the level and prevailing entrepreneurial competencies and intention of 89 randomly selected graduating BSIT students of WVSU Lambunao Campus during the second semester of school year 2013-2014. The descriptive-correlational research employed the published Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies (PECs) Self-Rating Questionnaire (in SERDEF, 2007) and on-line published Linan and Chen (2009) behavioral-intention-oriented scale. Result showed that the graduating BSIT students were generally had "good or strong" entrepreneurial competence with goal setting, persistence, and self-confidence as the prevailing competencies. The BSIT students had "average" entrepreneurial intention regardless of their sex and age. However, when they were grouped as to entrepreneurial experience, those who had experienced had "above average" while those with no experience had "average" entrepreneurial intention. Positive and significant relationship was found between graduating BSIT students' entrepreneurial competence and entrepreneurial intention. Hence, there is a need to strengthen entrepreneurship education that can increase students' interest in business career.
