Zusammenfassung
This descriptive investigation, conducted in January 2011, aimed at determining the attributes that contributed toward the winning of the Dinagyang festival contingents in Aliwan Fiesta from 2007-2010. It also aimed to find out whether significant differences existed in the perceived winning attributes of Dinagyang Festival contingents classified as choreographers, dancers, musicians and support staff. Among the 265 respondents, the choreographers were purposively selected while the rest were randomly chosen. To gather the data needed for the present study, the researcher utilized a 64 item-researcher-made and jury validated questionnaire-checklist. An interview was also done to substantiate the quantitative results of the study through a focus group discussion (FGD). The statistical tools employed were the mean, rank, one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Post Hoc. The level of significance was set at .05 alpha. The results revealed that the topmost attribute in winning in Aliwan Fiesta according to Dinagyang Festival contingents who were taken as an entire group and classified as choreographers, dancers, and musicians was incentives. This was followed by ability, effort and luck. However, according to the support staff, effort was the topmost winning attribute, followed by ability and incentives which tied in second, and luck as the lowest winning attribute. Effort, ability, and incentives were believed by the Dinagyang Festival contingents taken as an entire group and classified as choreographers, dancers, musicians, or support staff to have contributed to a great extent in their winning in Aliwan Fiesta. Similarly, luck, was felt to have contributed to a great extent in their winning according to Dinagyang Festival contingents as an entire group and classified as dancers and musicians, but the choreographers and support staff believed that luck have only contributed to some extent in their winning in the competition. Furthermore, theme/concept, choreography, performance, costume and props have contributed to a great extent in the winning in Aliwan Fiesta according to the Dinagyang Festival contingents. Props ranked first, followed by choreography, costumes, theme/concept, and performance. No significant difference existed in the extent of contribution of effort, ability and incentives in the winning of Dinagyang Festival contingents in Aliwan Fiesta, but, significant difference existed in the extent of contribution of luck.
