This descriptive study determined the predictors of the academic and sport achievement of the student athletes in terms of academic motivation, and student athletic motivation. The study further aimed to find out the significant relationship existed between academic achievement and sport achievement, between academic achievement and academic motivation, between academic achievement and athletic motivation, between sport achievement and academic motivation, and between sport achievement and athletic motivation. The respondents of the study were the 35 purposively selected student-athletes who participated in Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet from 2010 to 2013 who should have a higher grade point average than eighty-eight (88) percent. To gather the data needed, the researcher used 22-item Student Athlete's Motivation towards Sports and Academics Questionnaire (SAMSAQ) (Gaston-Gayles, 2004 to measure motivation as predictors of academic and sport achievement. Evaluation form is divided into following subscales: (a) student athletic motivation (SAM) (6 items), (b) academic motivation (AM) (11 items). Each subscale measures the extent to which student athletes are motivated toward related tasks. Multi linear regression set at .05 alpha was used to analyze and interpret the data as the determining the predictors of the academic and sport achievement. The Pearson's r was used to determine the relationship of sport achievement, academic achievement, and sport motivation. The result revealed that not one of the six variables (sex, father's educational qualification, mother's educational qualification, academic motivation and sports motivation) studied can predict the student-athletes' academic achievement. In sport achievement, only sport motivation was the predictor of the six variables. No significant relationship existed between academic achievement and sport achievement, between academic achievement and academic motivation, between academic achievement and sport motivation, between sport achievement and academic motivation, and between sport achievement and sport motivation.en
